About

Hey there! I am Kelly Weimer, and I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. Growing up I had an immediate fascination with animals and all things wild. I would so often get lost in my own world, especially when camping, that I would wander off unannounced (it would give my parents quite a scare, sorry Mom and Dad! ). My wild mind finally found some rest once I picked up sketching and painting in elementary school. Horses were my spirit animal at the time, so naturally every art project revolved around my love for them. My Mom assisted numerous art classes in school, and I owe a huge amount of my success to her endless support and inspiration throughout my life.

My art career began to take off in high school, where I took two years of painting classes. In those years I stretched my creativity, discovered my love for watercolor and was awarded “Painter of the Year” both of those years. The gift I received was my very own watercolor palette and paint set, which I still use to this day.

As any of you fellow creators may know, watercolor has a mind of its own. Once the color is set, there is not much you can do to change it. This challenge is why I fell in love with it. You have to completely surrender to the water and the colors, and allow them to take their own shape and textures. There is something so pure and magical about moving the water, blending the colors and watching everything come to life on the canvas. I am passionately inspired by life’s details, and as you see in most of my art I spend a significant amount of time adding layers of fine lines to the wildlife I paint.

I currently live in McCall, Idaho where I spend much of my time hiking in the mountains, backpacking, hunting, skiing, and exploring alpine lakes in the summer. I am so excited to share my passion in an online platform with all of you, and I am so grateful for your time and interest! Please feel free to reach out to me with any of your visions and ideas and I am happy to help bring them to life.
